REPORT: Rifi: Wissam Hassan was Lebanon’s security umbrella

The former Chief of Internal Security Forces Maj. Gen. Ashraf Rifi revealed that he had convinced martyr Wissam Hassan that he must return to Lebanon in order for them to work together to maintain Lebanon’s security.

During a ceremony held in Koura to unveil a memorial commemorating the assassination of Hassan, Rifi noted that “they knew who the killer was, but they needed concrete evidence to present it to the court.”

“Wissam Hassan was Lebanon’s security umbrella,” Rifi said.

ISF Information Branch General Wissam Hassan was assassinated in an explosion that rocked the Achrafieh area on October 9th, 2012. The incident injured around a hundred people and killed three others.
