Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah expressed his gratitude to all those who deployed efforts for the release of the nine Lebanese hostages who were held in Syria’s Aazaz, calling for the release of the two abducted bishops and Lebanese photographer Samir Kassab.

In this regard, Nasrallah called on the Lebanese judiciary to follow up on the case of the freed hostages in order to unveil the circumstances of their abduction.

Nasrallah made his remarks in a speech he delivered Monday during a ceremony held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Great Prophet Hospital south of Beirut.

On the case of the Lebanese missing persons in Syria, Nasrallah said that a serious mechanism must be set up in order to resolve the humanitarian file, which must be addressed responsibly.

On another note, Nasrallah noted that the case of Imam Moussa al-Sader and his bodyguards concerns the Lebanese state, adding that Hezbollah urged Iran to contact Libya in this regard, but the Lebanese state must exert stronger efforts, he said.

On Syria, Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that there is no military solution to the Syrian crisis, calling on rival parties to hold “unconditional dialogue” in a bid to reach a political solution based on regional and international support.

He added that the Geneva II peace conference brings hope in this regard; pointing out that Saudi Arabia is seeking to obstruct any sort of a political discourse in Syria.

“Saudi Arabia is outraged by the latest developments in Syria,” the Hezbollah chief said, stressing that obstructing the political solution will lead to further destruction and negative repercussions on Lebanon and all neighboring countries.

Regarding internal affairs, Sayyed Nasrallah said that further delay in settling local issues only serves the interests of the “other party”.

“We stand at a crossroads, either the opposing political team agrees to the 6-9-9 governmental formula or the country withstands further administrative stagnation,” he said.

In this context, he called on President Michel Sleiman and caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miakti to hold a government session, stressing that political powers must be excluded from the new cabinet until their influence on the formation comes to an end.

On another note, Nasrallah said that the oil file and the security situation are the most important issues that must be resolved, noting that the only solution to Tripoli lies with the Lebanese Armed Forces taking full control of the city.
