REPORT: ADP Secretary General Refaat Eid: ISF dubbed our blood "Halal", retaliation is "justified"

Arab Democratic Party Secretary-General Refaat Eid held on Saturday a press conference in Tripoli, during which he accused the Internal Security Forces and the Lebanese judicial system of “torturing” suspect Ahmed Ali to confess that he had smuggled a suspect in the twin blasts in the northern city of Tripoli.

Eid also noted that the State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr transferred Ali to the ISF Intelligence Bureau after he was tortured during investigations.

He added that Ali was not assaulted by the ISF, which only used “psychological” torture against him by showing him torture equipment.

"The ISF forced him to sign a document stating that he had smuggled Ahmed Merhi, who is one of the suspects of the explosive-laden vehicle that blew up near al-Taqwa mosque, to Syria," Eid said.

"The ISF Intelligence Bureau has dubbed our blood 'Halal' therefore retaliation on our part is justified," he added.

The State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr charged on Tuesday [05-11] Arab Democratic Party leader former MP Ali Eid and his driver Ahmed Mohammed Ali with smuggling suspect Ahmad Merhi suspected for involvement in the case of Tripoli's twin blasts.

A search and investigation warrant was issued against former MP Eid on Monday.

Judge Saqr also charged Syrian national Sukeina Ismail with plotting to transfer the two car bombs from Syria into Lebanon.

On another note, General Security officials at the al-Abboudiyeh border-crossing arrested Chehade hdoud, who was charged earlier on Tuesday with smuggling suspect Sukeina Ismail from Lebanon to Syria.

Last week, the Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau summoned Eid for interrogations over his alleged involvement in the August twin bombings that targeted Lebanon's northern city of Tripoli.
