Sources reported to LBCI on Monday that 60 Lebanese nationals, who were trapped in South Sudan’s Juba, will be arriving to Lebanon tonight on board the Egyptian Airlines carrier.
The sources added that another 40 nationals will be arriving to Lebanon on Tuesday.
The same source noted that some Lebanese nationals left Sudan to other African neighboring states, while 50 others decided to stay on their own accord in South Sudan.
South Sudan, which gained its independence in 2011 after decades of a brutal war with Sudan, has been plagued by ethnic discord, corruption and conflict with Sudan over oil revenues.
Although the south inherited three-quarters of Sudan's oil production when it declared independence in 2012, its oil exports are pumped through pipelines running north, raising concern of a rebel takeover of southern oil fields that could once again invite Sudan into the conflict.
