REPORT: Around 200 women and children ready to be evacuated from besieged Homs

Around 200 women and children trapped in the old streets of the city of Homs because of the Syrian army siege are ready to be evacuated, while others refuse to leave their male relatives behind, activists said on Monday.

"Some 200 women and children, those suffering the worst as a result of the lack of food and medical are ready to be evacuated," said Abu Ziad, an activist in the besieged, rebel-held part of the central city.

In turn, the International committee of the Red Cross declared that the Syrian government has not yet taken any measure to facilitate the arrival of aid to Homs or to allow the evacuation of women and children.
