REPORT: Syria capable of reproducing chemical weapons

Syria, which is working on developing advanced weapons, is capable of reproducing chemical weapons within a short period of time, according to a report published by Jane’s Defence Weekly British magazine.

Similarly, US Intelligence Chief James Clapper said Wednesday that the Syrian regime has agreed to dismantle its chemical arsenal, but may now be capable of producing biological weapons.

Clapper made his remarks before the Senate Intelligence Committee in an annual threat assessment.

"We judge that some elements of Syria's biological warfare program might have advanced beyond the research and development stage and might be capable of limited agent production, based on the duration of its longstanding program," he added.
