REPORT: Jackie Chamoun expresses gratitude to her supporters

Lebanese Olympic skier Jackie Chamoun expressed on Friday, via a status posted on her official Facebook page, her gratitude to the Lebanese citizens who supported her.   

“Thank you all for your support and encouragement! It's great to see so many people standing by me; it helps me keep the positive spirit for the Games,” Jackie said.  

A video was posted with the status depicting Jackie skiing in Sochi.  

Three years ago, Jackie Chamoun posed for a calendar photo shoot. Behind-the-scenes footage was recently posted online, and Lebanon's caretaker sports and youth minister ordered an investigation into the revealing photos.  

A wave of solidarity overtook social media platforms in support of the young Lebanese athlete, and a campaign was launched on social media platforms to express solidarity with the athlete through the hashtag #StripForJackie  

The 22-year-old Chamoun is scheduled to race in the slalom on the 21st of February.
