REPORT: Workers at gas distribution stations vow to take escalatory measures

The Ouzai road was reopened on Tuesday after workers at the gas distribution stations in the Bir Hassan area closed it with burning tires to protest the decision taken by Interior Minister Nouhad Mashnouq.

The workers vowed to take escalatory measures, stressing that work at the said stations is all what they have for a living.

In this regard, Jamal Aoun, Marketing Manager at Sidaco, told LBCI that negotiations are underway with the Ministry of Interior, pointing out that tight measures were implemented at the distribution stations.

On Saturday the 1st of March, Minister Mashnouq ordered the closure of the gas distribution stations in the Bir Hassan area, Beirut after investigations with arrested extremists revealed that the stations could be a target of a terrorist attack.

Mashnouq ordered the stations' closure starting Monday the 3rd of March, until the whole stock is emptied.

The ministry’s statement noted that the Choueifat and Dora gas stations will supply the material for the areas of Beirut and Dahieh.
