REPORT: Sleiman says Baabda Declaration became more important than ministerial statement

President Michel Sleiman stressed Thursday, during a chat with reporters in Paris, that the Baabda Declaration has become more important than the ministerial statement.

Sleiman briefed the reporters on the outcome of the conference in Paris and the governmental developments.

Commenting on the campaigns launched against him, he said: “I was expecting such an attack from Hezbollah; they must not undermine ink, because ink writes history.”  

On another note, a dinner banquet was held on Wednesday at the residence of deputy speaker Farid Makari in Paris, in honor of President Sleiman. In this regard, sources told LBCI that former Prime Minister Saad Hariri did not attend the dinner since he is not present in Paris, contrary to what had been reported by media reports.

Sleiman is currently present in France with his accompanying delegation in order to attend the second conference of the International Support Group for Lebanon held in Paris. The group's first conference was held last September in New York, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session.
