REPORT: Cautious calm overshadows Wadi Khaled’s Bekayaa

Cautious calm overshadowed Friday the region of Bekayaa in Wadi Khaled, after at least 60 injured nationals arrived on Thursday escaping Syria’s al-Hosn town, where fierce clashes erupted between the Syrian army and the rebels.

In this context, sources told LBCI that the Lebanese Armed Forces did neither arrest any person in the region nor clash with any armed group.

In turn, the mayor of the town of Bani Sakher told LBCI that the public school and the town’s mosque, as well as a number of houses were damaged due to the clashes and the shelling that targeted the region on Thursday.

On Thursday, tension prevailed over the Lebanese town of al-Bekayaa in Wadi Khaled, which has been a target for Syrian gunfire and rocket shelling.
