REPORT: Sexual harassment at the workplace rampant in Lebanon due to lack of law
Lebanon still lacks a law that would effectively criminalize sexual harassment at the workplace, whether in the private or public sector.

This has left many in vulnerable positions, unable to defend their rights in the face of exploitative seniors, including Lebanese citizen Hoda Sankari who had to resort to video taping a Lebanese governor implicating sexual favors in exchange for her employment.

Only the paragraph pertaining to the abuse of power and the breach of job duties may help Hoda Sankari in her case against Governor Nassif Qaloush who is now accused of sexually blackmailing her.

A video was published on YouTube on Thursday depicting, according to an employee identified as Hoda Sankari, Governor Qaloush trying to sexually extort her in exchange for renewing her contract.

Governor of Beirut and the North Nassif Qaloush said on Saturday that the video depicting him trying to sexually extort an employee is “fake.”

“The video was fabricated and edited as means of blackmail," Qaloush added.
