Syrian state television blamed the explosion on "terrorists," the term it uses to describe those fighting to oust President Bashar Assad. It also did not have a casualty figure.
Provincial governor Talal Barazzi said the attack targeted reconciliation efforts in Homs.
Earlier, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Syria's Al-Qaeda branch staged four suicide bomb attacks on army positions on Sunday, leaving dozens of casualties, in a bid to cut off Idlib province from the coast.
The Observatory said that four Al-Nusra Front fighters carried out suicide attacks, driving vehicles packed with explosives into four regime forces' checkpoints in the Jabal al-Arbaeen area near Ariha city.
The monitoring group said that dozens of troops were killed or wounded, without giving specific figures, adding that fierce fighting broke out in the area, pitting army troops against rebels and jihadists.
It added that the air force also struck the area, killing two rebels and wounding another 15.
It is worth noting that the army controls the cities of Idlib and Ariha in Idlib province of northwest Syria, but much of the countryside is under rebel control.
More than 160,000 people have been killed in Syria's three-year-old conflict, according to the Observatory, which monitors violence on both sides through a network of sources in the country.
