During a press conference, Abi Ramia called for holding accountable those who are hindering the finalization of this issue, calling for protecting coexistence and preventing civil war between the residents of the same town.
“We will prevent any attempt to undermine the rights of the citizens,” he states, adding that the disputes in Lasa began in 1992 after the displaced returned to the village.
In this regard, the deputy confirmed that the Free Patriotic Movement and Hezbollah do not cover any party in the dispute, noting that Hezbollah informed the Maronite Patriarch Beshara Boutros Rai that it is not involved in the issue and that it calls for the implementation of the legal rulings issued in this regard.
“Lasa’s dispute is a decades-old legal real estate matter, and there are attempts to turn it into a sectarian conflict,” Abi Ramia concluded. For more details, watch Edmond Sassine's full report in the video above
