REPORT: University fires professor after anti-Israel tweets
Steven Salaita, a university professor, lost an offer for a tenured position at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Quad, after he posted strong views against Israel’s strike on Gaza this summer on Twitter.

The university’s administration said that Salaita’s tweets were uncivil, saying they represented “disrespectful and demeaning speech that promotes malice.”

Salaita accepted a faculty appointment at the University of Illinois in October 2013 to teach in the American Indian Studies program starting January 2014. But his appointment was revoked early August, after he posted the comments criticizing Israel.
