REPORT: Speaker Berri says legislative session not related to parliament’s mandate
House Speaker Nabih Berri stated on Wednesday that holding a legislative session is not related to extending parliament’s mandate, stressing that he is adamant on holding the upcoming parliamentary elections.

For his part, Change and Reform Bloc MP Ibrahim Kanaan, stated after talks with Berri that he will cooperate with Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil to follow up on the issue of the new wage hike.

He also noted that legislating is the right of all deputies, emphasizing that MPs would have avoided a number of problems had they not boycotted legislative sessions.
