REPORT: Mufti al-Shaar calls on Lebanese government to grant Tripoli its rights
Official and religious figures stressed Saturday that the northern city of Tripoli has always been and will remain the city of peace, struggle and reason, noting that there is no place for terrorism in it.

Following a meeting held at his residence, Mufti of Tripoli and the North Sheikh Malek al-Shaar pointed out that they feel pride and honor to be from Tripoli, which stood alongside the state and supported the Lebanese army, calling on the government to grant the city its rights, through allocating a special fund at the Council for Development and Reconstruction for Tripoli and the northern regions.

For his part, Social Affairs Minister Rashid Derbass urged the donators not to lavishly spend their money, but to turn their donations into economic projects to create jobs and reduce unemployment.

In turn, Justice Minister Asharaf Rifi stated that Tripoli has always relied on the Lebanese state, adding that the situation will never improve as long as there is “a statelet inside the state.”
