Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Jean Kahwaji inspected on Wednesday army positions in the border town of Arsal in a show of solidarity with soldiers positioned in the volatile region.
Kahwagi inspected the frontlines of the Lebanese army posts in Wadi Hmeid, al-Masyada and Wadi al-Hosn.
During his inspection visit, Kahwaji hailed the efforts of LAF soldier, stressing that the army command is keen on confronting terrorism.
Jihadists from al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State group are deployed on the outskirts of the town on the Syrian-Lebanese border. In August, they overran Arsal and engaged in deadly clashes with the Lebanese army.
At least 35 soldiers and policemen were taken hostage by the armed men as they withdrew to the mountainous regions. Four of them have been executed so far.
