REPORT: Lebanese cabinet condemns execution of Jordanian pilot

A cabinet session was held on Wednesday at the Grand Serail under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tammam Salam.

Following the session, Information Minister Ramzi Jreij said that the ministers expressed their shock over the gruesome execution of Jordanian pilot Muath al-Kassasbeh, condemning "the dreadfulness that this dark ideology has reached."

Jreij also noted that the cabinet agreed to refer Tripoli's Jabal Mohsen bombing to the Judicial Council.

On another note, the cabinet approved a request submitted by the Ministry of Energy and Water on tasking the Council for Development and Reconstruction with following up on the agreement with the Kuwaiti fund regarding the creation of a lake in Bsharri.

As for the civil marriage issue, Jreij stressed that it was not discussed during today’s session, adding that the Minister of Interior has the sole authority on the matter.

“If the Minister of Interior raises it during the next session, we will discuss it,” he added.

Prior to the session, Education Minister Elias Bou Saab stated that there is a new conflict at the Lebanese University; however, refused to give details.
