REPORT: Lebanese pediatrician released in baby amputee case
Dr. Issam Maalouf -a pediatrician held responsible for the amputation of a baby girl’s limbs- was released Monday on a LBP 100 million bail.

The doctor thanked all those who contributed to his release, including the judiciary, the security forces, all colleagues who stood by him in solidarity and his lawyer Sakhr al-Hashem.

This comes after Hashem announced that the Accusatory Body had rejected an appeal presented by the representative of Ella Tannous’ family against a decision to release the doctor on bail.

Lawyer Hashem told LBCI that Maalouf will leave Al-Hayat hospital and will arrive at his residence in about an hour, adding “investigations will continue”.

The attorney representing the case of Ella Tannous raised on Friday an appeal against the release of pediatrician Dr. Issam Maalouf on a LBP 100 million bail.

On Wednesday (June 10), Beirut’s investigative judge ordered the release of Dr. Maalouf after questioning him in the presence of his attorney Sakher Al-Hachem and Dr. Jean Boulos, a representative of the Order of Physicians.

Following the session, attorney Al-Hachem noted that Maalouf did not misdiagnose the case of Ella Tannous.
