Following the session, Information Minister Ramzi Jreij reiterated the Premier's call for the election of a head of state.
Jreij also quoted Salam as saying that efforts are still being deployed to find a solution for the waste management crisis.
On another note, Minister of Telecommunication Boutros Harb declared that he will boycott the cabinet’s sessions so long as “it continues to fail in forging concrete solutions or in terms of decision making.”
Prior to the session, a meeting was held between Minister of Foreign Affairs Gebran Bassil, Minister of Education Elias Bou Saab and Minister of Culture Roni Araji. For his part, Minister of Environment Mohammad Mashnouq said prior to session that the waste management bids have been completed. On a separate note, Minister of Justice Ashraf Rifi noted that Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun "will keep on fighting" the Lebanese Armed Forces Commander Major General Jean Kahwagi "until he gives him the presidency." In contrast, Minister of Sports and Youth Abedel Matlab el-Hennawy said that the extension of top security officers’ mandates for three years is "a constitutional heresy and disturbs the army’s treasury."
