REPORT: FPM leader Minister Bassil says consensus is a form of democracy

Free Patriotic Movement leader Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil launched on Thursday his electoral program for the Free Patriotic Movement's presidency, whereby he noted that “consensus is a form of democracy.”

He also noted that the Movement is being subject to elimination, adding that some sides are trying to obstruct its programs.

Bassil reiterated that the Lebanese army is “the cradle of heroes,” noting on another note that his team will always support the women’s rights.

Earlier on Thursday, Bassil was elected as Free Patriotic Movement head by acclamation along with his vice presidents Nicolas Sahanoui for political affairs and Romel Saber for the administrative ones.

However, Ziad Al Bayeh's list was dismissed from FPM leadership elections for failing to meet the required conditions.
