The Federation of Ghareb al-Aala and Chahhar Municipalities stressed Sunday its support for the comprehensive plan presented by Agriculture Minister Akram Chehayeb to resolve the waste management crisis.
In this regard, the Mokhtar of Ain Drafil town said that the Lebanese people can no longer bear the dangers of pollution by the town’s landfill, noting however they will agree to re-open the landfill for only seven days.
The residents pointed out that they received official promises that the landfill will not open for more than seven days.
The head of the federation of municipalities stressed that the region’s municipalities support Chehayeb’s plan, adding that “they have endured with the situation for 18 years, and they are ready to take on seven more days for the sake of Lebanon and its people.”
