Free Patriotic Movement supporters gathered on Sunday near the Baabda Palace to commemorate the anniversary of October 13, 1990.
“I called you and you answered my appeal. You are the decision-makers and no one is entitled to represent you after today,” Change and Reform chief MP Michel Aoun said via his twitter account.
Following his arrival at Baabda, MP Aoun delivered a speech whereby he reiterated that "the change will occur through an electoral law based on proportional representation."
The lawmaker held the political class, which has been ruling the country for 25 years, accountable for the state's collapse.
Commenting on the commemoration of October 13, MP Aoun said that the martyrs of the Lebanese Army fell for Lebanon’s freedom and independence.
During the protest, Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil told LBCI that “the FPM wants to restore its rights which consist in giving power to the people.”
"The Lebanese people who are gathering in Baabda represent the cabinet," FM Bassil added.
For his part, MP Simon Abi Ramia asserted to LBCI that “the movement aims at restoring the Presidential Palace by resorting to the people and through an electoral law based on proportional voting.”
Earlier last month, MP Aoun called upon his supporters to hold a protest near the Presidential Palace.
