REPORT: Activists, students stage sit-in on road leading to Srar landfill
Amid tight security measures implemented by security forces, activists and students gathered Wednesday on the road leading to the highly disputed Srar landfill in Akkar in a bid to halt construction works that would lead to the opening of a road to the proposed landfill.
 
The protesters reiterated that they will not allow any truck to cross towards the landfill, calling for canceling the decision stipulating the opening of the landfill in the said town.

As a consequence, the construction works were halted, while protesters returned to the tent erected in the town of al-Aboudieh.
