REPORT: “We Want Accountability” stage protest outside Adlieh’s VAT building
“We Want Accountability” campaigners carried out Saturday a sit-in before the VAT building in Adlieh to call for a prompt transfer of funds to municipalities all over Lebanon in order to address the waste management crisis.

Following the arrival of the activists at the VAT building, the security forces closed the doors, preventing them from entering the building.

Consequently, the activists started chanting slogans, calling on the security forces to reopen the doors.

Lebanon has been grappling with a waste crisis following the July 17 closure of the Naameh landfill.

The cabinet pledged last year that the said landfill would be shut down and an alternative site would be found, however failed to live up to its promises.
