Latest presidential stances spur different reactions

The clear and resolute stances taken by President Michel Sleiman from Uruguay on the situation in Lebanon and the Arab region spurred different reactions.

MP Boutros Harb stressed that the presidential stances help preserve the country’s stability, saluting, via LBCI, the president for his positions “that reflect the Lebanese reality and aspirations.”

In turn, Minister of Public Works Ghazi Aridi told LBCI that the president’s stances were in line with the Baabda declaration and the defense strategy he presented. “His positions are balanced and the issue of weapons must be tackled in a serious talk at the national table”, he said.

While Hezbollah refused to comment on the presidential stances, former Minister Wiam Wahhab criticized the president indirectly by wondering about the use of Lebanese trips to Latin America.
