Aoun calls for a state of health emergency
President Michel Aoun said on Monday that the tragedy that we are witnessing at the doors of hospitals “requires radical measures so we can reduce the catastrophic repercussions of the Coronavirus spread.”
 
Aoun’s comments were made at the beginning of the meeting for the Higher Defense Council.
 
He also called for a “state of health emergency in the country to face the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.”
 
For his part, caretaker Prime Minister Hassan Diab said that the country is facing “a frightening health reality as Coronavirus has become out of control due to the stubbornness of the people and their rebellion against the measures taken to protect the Lebanese people.”
 
New and stricter measures were taken calling on military and security agencies to be “firm while enforcing them because failure to implement them means a comprehensive health collapse.”
