REPORT: US and Israel discuss Syria, Lebanon and Iran's file

US Army Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey promised during his meeting with Israeli officials that the US will be providing Israel with modern and sophisticated attack systems and combat equipments, as well as financial support.

As Israeli threats to Lebanon rise, President Shimon Peres told the US General that military operations to stop Iran's nuclear program is always a choice stressing that all options remain open and that a diplomatic solution is preferable.

For his part, Dempsey said that the exercise the US and the Israeli armies are conducting, is a result of joint efforts of the two countries in all domains against all sort of threats. "We are thrilled to know the result", he added.

Dempsey profited from his stay in Israel to discuss several issues, among them the Syrian crisis and its influence on Lebanon, as well as the events in Egypt and Gaza.

The airstrike against a weapons factory in Sudan was a major topic in Dempsey's meetings and joint maneuvers.

General Dempsey is visiting Israel to personally supervise a large-scale military exercise.
