REPORT: Security Forces foil escape attempt of Fatah Al Islam inmates

The Security Forces managed to foil an escape attempt of Fatah Al Islam inmates on Wednesday morning, confiscating ropes and burqa's that would have been used as disguise.

The scenario the prisoners have planned consists of wearing burqa's and climbing down the prison’s building using ropes, passing through the main entrance as a conservative female, unnoticed.          

In this context, Roumieh prison’s warden Amer Zaylaa stressed that the guards seized handmade ropes and women’s “Chador”, noting that not one prisoner was arrested since the seized items were found in a room used for cleanups.       

Zaylaa told LBCI that, last year, around ten cases of escape were detected, adding that all the prisons in the world do not rely on the human element, since this latter may be corrupt and subject to bribery. He noted that Roumieh prison lack of necessary equipment.                

Accordingly, Zaylaa said that he asked for doors, cameras, and fingerprint machine for the prison.
