French envoy after meeting Mikati: IMF agreement may pave way for dialogue on CEDRE Conference projects-[REPORT]
Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Monday that contacts are ongoing to resume Cabinet sessions, especially "that the coming period requires holding intensive sessions to complete many files and to keep pace with the ongoing negotiations with the International Monetary Fund."
 
Mikati’s comments were made while receiving French envoy and Coordinator of International Aid for Lebanon ambassador Pierre Duquesne in the presence of French ambassador Anne Grillo at the Baabda Presidential Palace.
 
This as MIkati stressed that contacts are continuing to find a solution to the government situation, adding that negotiations with the IMF "are going well, and results are expected to appear soon."
"Calling for a cabinet session without first securing the appropriate conditions may cause more political tension and may further complicate solutions,” Mikati added.
 
For his part, Duquesne said that he had observed many positive developments, including the continuation of negotiations between Lebanon and the International Monetary Fund, emphasizing "the importance of establishing the fundamental principles to address the Lebanese crisis before reaching an agreement with the Fund."
 
He also noted that the agreement with the IMF must be completed before the next parliamentary elections, pointing out that the accord may pave the way for dialogue on CEDRE Conference projects."
