Introduction to the evening news 27-01-2013

 
According to the transcript of an interview with CNN released by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s office, the latter said that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's chances of retaining power are getting "smaller and smaller" every day, stressing that “Assad's future is up to the Syrian people, not to outside forces.”  

International positions concerning the Syrian file seem to remain ambiguous as Russia vetoed any foreign intervention in Syria and accordingly prolonged the crisis.  

In Lebanon, the parliamentary sub-committee tasked to discuss electoral law proposals is expected to refer its report on Tuesday. Meanwhile, March 14 MPs haven’t announced yet if they will attend the meetings of the joint parliamentary committees.    

This as, French President Francois Hollande will be receiving MP Walid Jumblatt tomorrow and Kataeb chief Amin Gemayel on Wednesday.    

In Aley, MP Jumblatt and his political party are supporting the Syrian rebels and held prayers for the defected Syrian First Lieutenant Khaldoun Sami Zeineddine who led the battalion of Sultan Basha Al-Atrash in the Free Syrian Army.  

In Kesserwan, victims of the Wata el-Joz crime Ghassan and Hadi Seifeddine were buried in Lasa while the suspect Anthony Khalil was handed over to the ISF’s Information Branch in Hrajel.  

In this context, LBCI sources reported that Khalil will be detained in a prison located in the North.
