Caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel assured, on Sunday, that there is no concern about the security situation in Lebanon.
In a discussion with Al-Mustaqbal newspaper, Charbel pointed that safety in the country is good with regards to the recent developments in the region and the concerned apparatuses are working to contain the situation.
In this context, Charbel added that the ministry asked to be provided with new and advanced devices allowing the detection of explosives on individuals.
Investigations focus on finding terrorist group in Lebanon behind Bir Hassan’s twin blasts
Lebanese security source told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that the investigations concerning Beirut’s Bir Hassan twin blasts are focusing on finding the terrorist group in Lebanon that recruited the two suicide bombers and tasked them to attack the Iranian embassy.
“The security situation in Lebanon is delicate and prone to terrorist attacks at any time”, source told the daily on Sunday.
Same source pointed that security apparatuses are now concentrating on dismantling terrorist groups and booby trapped cars that are threatening Lebanon.
“Security information indicates the presence of many sleeping radical cells which could become active at any given time and assured that apparatuses are fully ready and alert”, security source concluded.
Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Awad Asiri slammed the accusations and threats made against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by some Lebanese officials in an interview with Al-Hayat newspaper.
Asiri said on Sunday that these “remarks” do not represent the moderate Lebanese position, stressing that the Kingdom is fighting back all forms of terrorism and with all means.
