Sources told al-Joumhouria newspaper on Saturday that the latest rapprochement between the Free Patriotic Movement and the Future Movement came under the auspices of the US ambassador to Lebanon David Hale.
Same sources added that Hale held a series of meetings with officials of both parties in order to reach a common ground over the formation of the new cabinet.
According to the Daily, Hezbollah expressed its discontent over FPM's approval on giving the Ministry of Interior to former Internal Security Forces Chief Major General Ashraf Rifi.
This as other sources told the Daily that Future bloc leader MP Fouad Siniora approved on naming MP Nohad al-Machnouk as Minister of Interior instead of Rifi.
Change and Reform bloc MP Hagop Pakradounian told An-Nahar newspaper on Saturday that the Free Patriotic Movement is open to all deliberations over the formation of new cabinet.
He also noted that regional and international states are interfering in Lebanon's internal affairs and thus helping in the formation process of the new cabinet.
On another note, Pakradounian told the Daily that Lebanon's oil is a "strategic weapon for the Lebanese people, mainly the Christians."
He concluded by noting that Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun did not submit his candidacy for the presidency.
Caretaker State Minister Ali Qanso told al-Mustaqbal newspaper on Saturday that the Ministry of Interior must be given to a non-provocative figure.
Qanso noted that the Future movement must give the said ministry to a person other than former Internal Security Forces Chief Major General Ashraf Rifi in order to facilitate the formation of the upcoming cabinet.
He concluded by saying that "security related ministers" must be given to "moderate and wise figures."
