Prime Minister Tammam Salam said that he was willing to resign should agreement over the resistance item in the policy statement fail to be reached, noting that he places his personal and political dignity above all other matters.
On another note, Salam stressed that his cabinet will have two main duties, to deal with the security situation and to provide the appropriate atmosphere to hold the presidential elections.
“I know that some parties are bargaining over the failure of the cabinet, but fortunately, this cabinet will rule for a short period of time which will not be enough even for failure,” he said in a statement to as-Safir Daily.
Salam rejected statements saying that the government will last longer than expected since the presidential elections will fail to be held, stressing that his cabinet’s rule will end on May 25th.
