The following are summaries of today's major stories published in the Arabic press. LBCI does not edit press digest articles for content, giving English-language readers insight into the various views expressed in newspapers across the Arab world.

Future Bloc MP Mohammad Hajjar stated on Monday that all indicators show that Lebanese Forces Chief Samir Geagea will be the candidate of March 14 for the upcoming presidential elections.

Hajjar told Asharq al-Awsat newspaper that Kataeb Party Leader Amine Gemayel has all the criteria to become Lebanon’s president; however, pointed out that he supports a candidate agreed on by the entire coalition.

March 8 sources stated that the coalition’s decision on its participation in Wednesday’s parliamentary session to elect a new president is yet to be determined, stressing that deputies from all factions may  participate in the session to ensure the quorum; however, may vote by casting a white paper.

In this regard, the sources told Al-Hayat newspaper that all Lebanese factions are aware that the first parliamentary session aims at stressing the necessity of electing a consensual president.
