Patriarch says will not remain idle facing the presidential vacuum-sources

Visitors of Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai quoted him as saying on Sunday that he is irritated because of the ongoing presidential vacuum in the country.

The same sources told al-Mustaqbal newspaper that he will tackle the presidential elections as well as the presidential candidates and the required quorum with the Lebanese leaders, adding that "he will not remain idle in this regard."

Sources quoted March 14 camp as saying on Sunday that March 8 camp is launching a "malicious" media campaign targeting Prime Minister Tammam Salam and his political performance.

The same sources told al-Anbaa newspaper that Salam voiced regrets over the attempts of some sides to hinder the work of the government.

The same sources concluded by saying that Salam is not willing to call for a cabinet session next Thursday, adding that he is still awaiting the results of the ongoing contacts to reach consensus over the pending issues.

Security threats against top Lebanese leaders intensified lately-sources

Sources told an-Nahar newspaper on Sunday that Islamist groups intensified their security threats against top Lebanese security and political leaders during the last few days.

The same sources added that tight security measures are being adopted by the Lebanese security apparatuses nearby the Roumieh prison in anticipation of any possible terrorist attack.
