Press Digest for Tuesday July 29, 2014
The following are summaries of today's major stories published in the Arabic press. LBCI does not edit press digest articles for content, giving English-language readers insight into the various views expressed in newspapers across the Arab world.

"The security plan that was launched in Beirut and the Bekaa will continue to be implemented throughout August," Interior Minister Nouhad Mashnouq told Al-Hayat daily on Tuesday.

Mashnouq also said he will meet, after the Eid holidays, with deputy Prime Minister and National Defense Minister, Samir Moqbel, and Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi in order to implement the cabinet's decision to annul security documents shared by various apparatuses.

Sources close to Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun said National Struggle Front leader MP Walid Jumblatt's meeting with Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah aims at excluding Aoun from the presidential race.

The same sources also told Al-Hayat newspaper that the Jumblatt-Nasrallah meeting was held in light of regional developments and the war in Gaza "which should be tackled amid the inaction of the Arab and international communities regarding Israeli massacres".
