Breakthrough made in file of Arsal kidnapped troops-sources

Sources told al-Joumhouria newspaper on Friday that a breakthrough was achieved in the case of the kidnapped troops in the border town of Arsal during the last few days.

The same sources added that contacts are ongoing via the Qatari mediators who continue negotiations with the kidnappers.

March 8 camp seeks to extend parliament's mandate for four years-sources

Sources told Acharq al-Awsat newspaper on Friday that the March 8 camp seeks to extend the parliament's mandate for four years.

The same sources noted that some March 8 MPs are rejecting such a suggestion, adding that they support the draft-law submitted by MP Nicolas Fattouche stating the extension of the parliament's mandate for a period of two years and seven months.

Berri says no progress made in the presidential polls-sources

Visitors of Speaker Nabih Berri quoted him as saying on Friday that no breakthrough was made in the presidential elections bid.

The same sources noted that the presidential polls are related to internal issues as well as the US-Iranian, Saudi-Iranian dialogue.

The sources told al-Joumhouria newspaper that Berri is adamant on approving the new pay scale after solving pending issues in the file.

Washington interferes to halt the Iranian donation to LAF-sources

Sources told al-Akhbar newspaper on Friday that Washington interfered in order to prevent Lebanon from accepting the Iranian grant to the Lebanese army.

The US administration informed Lebanese officials that accepting the donation may halt US aid to the army.

The same sources told the daily US officials urged the Lebanese state to adhere by the sanctions imposed on Tehran.
