Speaker Nabih Berri told An-Nahar newspaper on Saturday that he will deploy efforts to ensure the holding of a dialogue between Hezbollah and the Future Movement.

Speaker Berri noted that the dialogue will be held soon, adding that former Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah are keen on to bridge the large gap between the two parties.

He concluding by blaming the Maronite leaders for the current presidential vacuum.


Prime Minister Tammam Salam told As-Safir newspaper on Saturday that the Independence Day will be beset by grief this year as the Lebanese troops remain in the captivity of Islamists, as well as amid the presidential vacuum.

Salam urged the political leaders to hold dialogue in order to put an end for Lebanon's pending issues, adding that he will deploy efforts to bring the political foes together.

He also noted that negotiations are still ongoing to ensure the release of the abducted soldiers in the border town of Arsal.


Sources told al-Joumhouria newspaper on Saturday that the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Derek Plumbly will hold an urgent meeting with Prime Minister Tammam Salam today.


Sources told An-Nahar newspaper on Saturday that prominent political figures are set to head in the upcoming hours to Saudi Arabia to discuss with the Future Movement leader Saad Hariri the latest local and regional developments.
