Minister of Interior Nouhad Machnouq told al-Akhbar newspaper on Tuesday that the fugitive terrorist Shadi al-Mawlawi is taking refuge inside the Ain el-Helweh refugee camp in the southern city of Sidon, despite previous confirmation that he had fled to the border town of Arsal.
“My previous confirmation relied on a security report I had received," Mashnouq noted.
According to the daily, Minister Machnouq also said that supporters of the fugitive hardline cleric Ahmad al-Assir and members of the Abdallah Azzam Brigade are also taking refuge inside the camp.
This as security sources told the newspaper that al-Mawlawi’s wife is pregnant, adding that she is expected to deliver in the few coming days.
The sources added that she recently arrived to the camp along with her four-year-old son.
Sources told an-Nahar newspaper on Tuesday that the Future Movement will hold “an important” meeting prior to the dialogue session with Hezbollah scheduled to take place today (Tuesday).
The same sources added that the participants in the meeting will tackle Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s latest speech and the celebratory gunfire heard prior to any televised speech for the Hezbollah leader.
According to the daily, the sources said that the Future MPs are divided over the dialogue sessions with Hezbollah, adding however that the talks will continue in order to reach common grounds between the parties in a bid to ease down tensions in the country.
Military sources told al-Joumhouria newspaper on Tuesday that the Lebanese army is thwarting daily attempts made by terrorists to infiltrate into the border town of Arsal.
The same sources added that the procedures taken by the army made it impossible on the terrorists to reach Arsal
According to the daily, the military sources noted that fugitive terrorist Shadi al-Mawlaw is still inside the Ain el-Helweh refugee camp, adding that he is ready to engage in any potential battles if need be.
Minister of Education Elias Bou Saab told an-Nahar newspaper on Tuesday that Prime Minister Tammam Salam vowed to resolve the controversy over the filling of the fourth basin at the Beirut Port.
Bou Saab added that Salam pledged to resolve the issue without harming public interest, adding that he will take the appropriate decision in this regard.
The minister also ruled out putting the issue on the cabinet's agenda.
