Future Bloc MP Atef Majdali stated on Tuesday that dialogue sessions with Hezbollah are not an indicator that the Future Bloc is no longer part of the March 14 group.
In this regard, Majdalni told Al-Joumhouria newspaper that the Future Movement is adamant on proceeding with the said dialogue sessions, emphasizing that these talks aim at easing tension in the country and finding a mechanism to elect a new president.
He also noted that the dossier of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon as well as Hezbollah’s interference in the Syrian crisis were set aside, adding that the responsibility of these two files is directly linked to Iran.
An-Nahar newspaper reported on Tuesday that Prime Minister Tammam Salam met on Monday with Deputy Prime Minister, Defense Minister Samir Moqbel and discussed with him the mandate of certain security officials mainly that of Lebanese Armed Forces Director of Intelligence Brigadier General Edmond Fadel.
In this regard, sources reported to the newspaper that Fadel’s mandate will end on the 20th of March; however, stated that the latter’s term might be extended for a period of one year.
Head of the Private Schools Teachers Association Nehme Mahfoud told Al-Akhbar newspaper that the Union Coordination Committee (UCC) is adherent to the remarks it had previously raised to House Speaker Nabih Berri regarding the series of ranks and salaries.
In this regard, Mahfoud added to the newspaper that UCC members are against imposing taxes on low-income employees.
For his part, UCC member Adnan Al-Bourji told the newspaper that the file of the wage hike should be put on the right track, emphasizing that all UCC members are ready to discuss it with the concerned officials.
Various Lebanese and Syrian sources reported to Al-Akhbar newspaper that the Islamic State is transferring its fighters from the eastern Qalamoun to Western Qalamoun at a time when armed opposition factions are still engaged in battles with the terrorist group to limit its expansion.
In this regard, the newspaper noted that the attack conducted by IS fighters on a position for the Syrian army in Deir Attieh (eastern Qalamoun) almost 2 weeks ago was a camouflage to transport 1,000 of its fighters to the western side of the said region.
