Lebanese Minister of Interior
Marwan Charbel said through
Al-Liwaa Daily on Friday that the LAF is capable of
bringing the demonstration held by Sheikh Ahmad Al-Assir to an end using force;
however fear of using such a strategy may present itself as an opportunity for
Al-Assir to incite sectarianism and prejudice against the military institution.

“We are using wisdom and calm
while dealing with this situation, as we have dealt with others,” Charbel said.
Charbel added that all security
apparatuses in the country are on duty, adding that political parties have also
removed their protection off delinquent subjects.
In a talk with
Al-Mustaqbal
Newspaper, Charbel stated that the month long security plan remains standing
until further notice.
Sources confirmed that the overall negative stances echoing throughout Sidon regarding
Al-Assir’s demonstration may act as a pressure card on the latter. This also
comes within the framework of bringing peace to the city and not steering it in
the direction of sectarian strife.
On the same issue, a ministerial source said through
An-Nahar Newspaper
that efforts are ongoing on a political level in hopes of bringing Al-Assir’s
demonstration to an end.
Sources close to the Islamic group in Lebanon
confirmed that the group is now preparing for a new role on the Lebanese front.
This according to the sources comes in light of the election of Islamist
Mohammad Morsi in Egypt.

Lebanese Daily that the group has opened its doors for new members to join in
following the advice of the Brotherhoods general guide in Egypt Mohammad Badii.
Al-Mustaqbal Lebanese Daily stated through an article published in its
Friday edition that the security clash that had occurred last week in Beirut’s Southern suburbs
was in fact an alleged attempted assassination of a Hezbollah official.
Al-Mustaqbal clarified that the reported shoot out incident reported
days earlier which had been headlined as personal dispute was in fact a
Hezbollah related clash, adding that the group’s security official Ahmad
Krayyem aka “Abou Hady” was the target of an assassination attempt. The assailants
were caught, according to the Daily, which led to the retaliation on the part
of Krayyem’s family.
Lebanese MP Hady Hbeich said through
Al-Akhbar Daily on Thursday that
the March 14 bloc has not backed down from its plans aimed at downing the
current government, adding that several scenarios are being contemplated away
from the eye of the media.
Hbeich added that the national dialogue sessions
were the main reasons that have halted these plans for the time being.
