National Struggle Front MP Walid Jumblatt stressed that actions are being undertaken in order to reach a common ground for the sake of forming the new government.
In this context, MP Jumblatt told
As-Safir Daily that “it is required to revive the contacts”, calling on the Lebanese parties to be “patient”.
“We should not forget the previous experiences when the formation of a government took long periods of time. In this regard, I call on all parties to pave the way for the Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam to form a government as soon as possible,” MP Jumblatt said.
In a question directed at MP Jumblatt over the formation of a ‘fait accompli’ government or a one-sided cabinet, he pointed out that he called for a ‘national unity government’, adding that an agreement over the rotation of governmental portfolios “would have a positive impact”.
Sources close to Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam told
An-Nahar Newspaper that “the latter is still awaiting the final decision of the March 8 coalition in regards to the formation of the government”.
Same sources also reported that PM-Designate Salam is exerting efforts to take the ‘right decision’ should the Lebanese political parties, mainly the March 8 coalition, take a long time to agree on his proposals.
Sources told
Al Joumhouria newspaper on Tuesday that Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah will tackle in his televised speech set for Tuesday Hezbollah's involvement in the fighting taking place in Syria.
Sources added that Sayyed Nasrallah will also tackle the formation of the new government and the upcoming parliamentary elections.
According o the Daily, Secretary General of Hezbollah will reiterate that the party will facilitate the mission of the Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam in forming a new government.
Speaker Nabih Berri told on Tuesday
Al Joumhouria newspaper that members of the March 14 alliance are attempting to tailor an electoral law which enables them to win the upcoming parliamentary elections.
In this regard, he reiterated that he is adamant on the formation of the new government before May 15, whether the parties agree on a new electoral law or not.
According to the Daily, Speaker Berri said that the drafting of a new electoral law will facilitate the mission of Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam in forming a new government.
Sources close to Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun quoted him saying that the upcoming parliamentary elections "might be held on their due time should the political forces reach an agreemant."
Sources told
Al-Akhbar newspaper on Tuesday that MP Aoun called on the candidates running for the elections to ready for the elections at any time.
