Russia has prevented on Saturday 41 additional Canadians from entering its territory in response to Ottawa's announced sanctions against Russian individuals for the invasion of Ukraine.
In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that this measure includes "leaders of organizations supporting extremist nationalist forces in Ukraine, and top military officials," noting that it was taken "in response to the new anti-Russian sanctions announced by Ottawa on May 8."
Many of these individuals are members of organizations linked to Ukraine, such as the Canadian-Ukrainian Congress, which says it represents the Ukrainian community before the Canadian government.
This as more than 600 Canadians have already been denied entry to Russia since the start of its offensive in Ukraine.
