Beirut Airport recorded shocking numbers of travelers in 2022
The movement of Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport achieved a significant increase in the number of travelers from Lebanon. During 2022, the number of passengers using this vital facility increased by 47 percent compared to 2021, and the number of flights increased by nearly 32 percent.  

The total number of passengers through the airport in 2022 was 6,349,967 passengers compared to 4,319,467 passengers in 2021.  

The summer months, July, August, and September of 2022, were characterized by the highest percentage of passenger traffic.   

The month of July recorded: 823,907 passengers, August: 796,543 passengers, and September: 648,935 passengers. The last month of 2022 also witnessed high passenger traffic, with 552,368 passengers.  

The airport's traffic in 2022 was distributed as follows:  

The total number of passengers through the airport in 2022 increased by 47 percent compared to 2021, reaching 6,349,967 passengers, as the number of arrivals to Lebanon increased by 50.86 percent, recording 3,127,207 passengers (compared to 2,072,809 arrivals to Lebanon in 2021).  

The number of departures also increased by 44 percent and recorded 3,213,675 departures compared to 2,231,979 in 2021. As for transit passengers, their number decreased by 38 percent and recorded 9,085 passengers.   

Additionally, the number of flights of national, Arab, and foreign airlines that used the airport during the past year recorded 52,381 flights, an increase of 31.83 percent, compared to 2021, when the number of flights coming to Lebanon increased by 31.68 percent and reached 26,164 flights. At the same time, departing flights increased by 32 percent and recorded 26,217 flights.  

It should be noted that the highest traffic at Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport was recorded at the end of 2019, before the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the total number of passengers reached 8,707,944 passengers and recorded 72,271 flights to and from Lebanon.
