The High Council of Integration (HCI) in France has made 12 recommendations, including the ban of “wearing religious symbols openly in lecture theaters and places of teaching and research" at French universities, according to reports published by French newspapers and magazines.                        

In France, the veil is already banned in governmental institutions and public schools.                  

In a confidential report leaked to Le Monde Newspaper, the council stressed the need to take such a measure in order to “deal with the issues caused by the female students who wear a veil and demand to have a place where they can hold prayers and to have special food menus at the universities.”
