Emergency services battle blaze at one of Venezuela's largest oil refineries
     
Venezuelan emergency services on Sunday tackled a blaze at one of the country's largest oil refineries.       

Thick black smoke was seen rising into the sky, after the fire broke out in the port city of Puerto La Cruz in Anzoategui State, around 315 kilometres east of the capital Caracas.            
According to authorities, it was sparked by lightning during a thunderstorm and was extinguished after four hours.         

The fire forced the evacuation of residents living in communities nearby.           

There were no injuries or deaths, according to the Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA.          
It also said that production at the refinery had not been affected.
