Man's heart removed from his stomach

Huang Rongming, (24) is a Chinese man who was born with congenital heart displacement.

Doctors at Wuhan Union Hospital carried out the surgery to put his heart back in place after strangers donated more than $30,000.

It took about 11 hours of surgery, but he finally had his heart in the right place.

Huang Rongming was born with his ticker bulging under a thin layer of skin on his stomach.

Doctors expected that the rare disorder will kill him, while his impoverished family couldn’t afford the needed expenses to cover the cost of the operation.

Huang tried to hide his condition for several years, but soon decided to go public with his case when a doctor persuaded him to tell his story to the media to ask for donations.

Generous strangers donated about $9,800 in six days, and an anonymous donor gave Huang another $24,500 to cover the bill. Doctors successfully completed the surgery in April.

The surgery ended a lifetime of worry for Huang and his family.
