Saud Al Faisal: Monitors’ protocol is an integral part of Arab League initiative

GCC countries called for stopping bloodshed in Syria and withdrawing all armored vehicles from cities. At the conclusion of their ordinary summit in Riyadh, the GCC leaders announced “they will adopt the proposal of Saudi King to unite in one entity in order to raise the challenges through the creation of a committee that will put forth its own recommendations”.

The leaders looked into the situation of the common Gulf market, the Customs Union and the monetary union.

Saudi Foreign Minister Saud Al Faisal stressed that the protocol allowing the Arab monitoring mission to visit Syria is an integral part of the Arab League initiative.

“We heard that Syria accepted the monitors’ memorandum and not the Arab league initiative”, Al Faisal said. Faisal stressed that “if the intentions are good, fighting should cease, armored vehicles should retrieve from cities and detainees should be released.”
