Syrian filmmaker Mohammad Malas released
Syrian filmmaker Mohammas Malas was released on Wednesday, after the Syrian Intelligence arrested him on Tuesday when he was heading to the Lebanese border en route to Switzerland, a friend of Malas said.

Sources said that Malas was detained for five hours before his release, stressing that he is still in Syria.

In this context, France had called on the Syrian regime to immediately release Malas, according to a statement issued by the French Foreign Ministry.

Mohamed Malas directed several documentary and feature films that garnered international recognition.
